Abstract: In order to cope with the recent increase in mobile traffic, research on heterogeneous networks using millimeter wave (mmWave) ultra-broadband communication has attracted attention. However, to maximize mmWave high speed communication, high capacity backhaul line such as 10 Gbps Ethernet is required. Considering the penetration rate in the world and the cost aspect of the high capacity backhaul line, operation is not realistic. Therefore, we propose mmWave Edge Cloud System in this research. This gets and utilizes abundant user context information and transmits data into storage of the small cell base station beforehand. We call it prefetching. By the effect, mmWave access can be sufficiently utilized without limitation of low capacity backhaul. In order to evaluate mmWave Edge Cloud System on the simulation, we introduce mobility model, traffic model, prefetching control method, definition of the system rate, and cell association method. As a result, we show that the proposed method with 1 Gbps backhaul can achieve about 90% of system rate of 10 Gbps backhaul.
